Baked: 1920’s Inspired Cake

Along the lines of yesterday’s post, I wanted to share a 1920’s inspired cake I made for a party a couple of years ago. I layered the chocolate cake interior with a coconut buttercream. The exterior was a vanilla buttercream, sprinkled with shaved coconut. The coconut was very faint, not overwhelming at all.  It was delicious!

Coincidentally, I have recently started planning for an upcoming 1930’s inspired wedding shoot that I was asked to work on. I’ve been looking at a myriad of 20’s and 30’s images for inspiration and although I won’t be making this cake again, I have come up with a couple new dessert ideas that I’m pretty excited about! More of my cakes can be seen via my portfolio.

This is fabulous. I’ve yet to sprinkle coconut on a cake, but it always looks so nice!
