There’s No Place Like Home

There’s nothing quite like being home for the holidays…especially when your hometown is San Diego, California. Chad and I (and our pugs too!) headed out to sunny San Diego for a wonderful week of morning walks on the beach, hanging with old friends (on boats and in bars), thrift shopping, Christmas celebrations, and best of all – a lot of quality family time.  Here’s a little look at our visit home.

Every Christmas, my family heads to the rural(ish) eastern lands of San Diego, where my aunt and uncle live.  They have a beautiful home and neighbors who have horses and chickens and all of that good ole’ country stuff!  And yes, all of us “kids” did go collect eggs from the neighbors chicken coop. It was amazzzzing!  For me, their home is filled with so many magical memories from my childhood and I absolutely love being there with a bunch of Joneses on Christmas.

Dog beach in Del Mar is one of my favorite spots in San Diego.  Regardless if I’m with or without a pup, the beach is perfect. Its huge beautiful cliffs border the beach and lead to the best walks during low tide. And any beach with dogs is a good beach in my book!

We decided to have a little cartwheel contest during one of our morning beach walks. How did we judge the cartwheels if it was just us? Well, we recorded them so we could critique ourselves. And I have no problem admitting that Chad won, fair and square. Out of nowhere the guy busted out this spectacular cartwheel! My wonky knees could not get straight…but, there’s always next year!
