Baked: Baby Shower Cakes

babyshowercake

This past weekend, I had an order for 2 cute (and girly) cakes for a baby shower and made these two little beauties. The mint green cake is chocolate with vanilla buttercream (the roses and all exterior icing is also buttercream) and the pink ruffle cake with the fondant bow was french vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream icing.

Luckily I had some extra time before the mom-to-be came to pick them up, so I was able to properly photograph them. Sometimes, I find that I do not have the time to take the best pictures of my cakes and I always regret it, because it’s such a huge part of growing my business.  So, I’ve vowed to myself to always – or at least always try – to slot an extra hour before I deliver or have customers pickup their cakes to take some quality photos.

I was also excited to shoot these little cuties because do you see that beautiful jadeite cake stand!? You’ll be seeing much more of that one, as my boyfriend surprised me with it last week. Out of nowhere, he just comes home with this gorgeous, beyond amazing cake stand from Fish’s Eddy. I am so in love with the beautiful piece of glassware…and the man who gave it to me!

I just stumbled upon your blog and am so in love. You and your creations are so beautiful and inspiring, you’ve made an instant follower out of me!
If I may, what tip do you use for your rosettes? They are different than ones I’ve seen in the past, and I like the uniqueness! Also, would you mind sharing your buttercream recipe? It always looks so smooth! I have only used swiss meringue but am getting a little fed up with the air pockets when I frost…I want a super smooth outside, dang it! I could use some help 🙂 Thank you!
