As you can see from a couple of my Instagram photos, yesterday was my boyfriend’s birthday.  I planned a couple surprises for the birthday boy over the course of the day, including a balloon-filled bathroom (which he got to discover in the early morning) and a special breakfast – which even included some cute kitty pancakes I made.  Yes, he’s a total cat guy.

Chad’s birthday cake will come this weekend, as we made the obvious decision to celebrate his special day on a day when he doesn’t have to work.  So for now, I’ll show you a little look at the cake I made for his birthday last year.  Chad‘s a film photographer and had been shooting with the Mamiya 645 camera at the time, so I baked up an edible replica for his special day.  Don’t know how I’ll top it for this weekend, but I’m going to try!
