5 Minute Halloween Cupcakes

Halloween Cupcakes 4

While I prefer to bake my own treats, when it comes to parties I will typically bake one or two main desserts for the party table and then fill the rest with purchased treats. Because really, who has the time to bake 8 different types of desserts?! Not this girl. Even plain looking treats from the grocery store can easily be jazzed up for your party using just a few ingredients. So, if you are looking for a quick dessert DIY for this weekend’s Halloween parties, you’ve come to the right place! With just $5 and in 5 minutes time, I am going to show you how to turn a batch of chocolate cupcakes into party-ready Halloween cupcakes. Follow along below for the how to!

Ok, ready?! Here’s what to do. Buy a batch of frosted cupcakes – I bought one dozen chocolate cupcakes from Trader Joe’s (they happened to be gluten free too!).  Next, pick up some Nutty Bars, a bag of Whoppers, and a bag of the Nestle “Pumpkin Spice” chocolate chips. In terms of ingredients, that’s all you need!

Once you’re back from the store, set your cupcakes in the fridge for at least 15 minutes to allow the frosting to re-set (this makes them much easier to work with). Once the frosting is stiff, chop up a few Nutty Bars and a handful of Whoppers with a knife (or in a food processor), and place them in a bowl. Next, pour 1 cup of the pumpkin spice chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute, stirring at the 30 second and 1 minute marks. Once melted, pour into a disposable pastry bag (or ziplock bag), cut the tip, and drizzle the pumpkin chocolate atop each of your cupcakes. Immediately after the chocolate has been added, sprinkle on some of the chopped Nutty Bar / Whopper mixture. And voilà – Halloween cupcakes, complete with a delicious seasonal flavor!
