DIY: Patch Cupcakes
Earlier this week I made a batch of cupcakes for children’s brand AKID, based off their new collaborative shoe line with Mini Mode. The shoes feature fun patches, which I recreated in cupcake form for the launch party. I had some leftover smiley face designs, so thought I’d share the how-to for these fun patch cupcakes. Continue on to find out how!
Materials Needed:
- Edible print of your design of choice (see below)
- Scissors
- 1 batch mini cupcakes
- Buttercream frosting
Directions:
Step #1: Before you start you’ll need to have a sheet printed of your design of choice on edible paper. See my Wallpaper Cake DIY HERE to find out how to do that. If you’re planning on topping mini cupcakes, make sure each of your patch designs are printed around 1.25″ round.
Step #2: Once you have a sheet of your printed patch designs, remove the plastic backing of the edible paper and cut out each patch design.
Step #3: Frost your cupcakes with buttercream frosting. Once frosted, place one of the cut-out designs atop a frosted cupcake. Use your finger to gently press each design into the frosting. You can refrigerate the cupcakes once the designs have been added, or they can immediately be served. Now, how easy is that?!
