Handmade Holiday: Living Room Display
What previously was a large photo above the top shelf is now a wintery snowflake display. And our typical shelf displays now host some of my handmade holiday trees. I was a little bit nervous about my boyfriend’s reaction to the seasonal redesign of the living room, but he loves it! Considering this wall is what you first see when you enter the living room, it really sets the tone upon entering our little winter wonderland apartment.
I created the wall display by mixing together a few store-bought tissue snowflakes, with a bunch of handmade tissue and paper snowflakes, along with a few crystal garlands. For the top shelf, I laid antique doilies across the shelf and then placed some of my handmade trees to both the top and bottom shelves. I added in a few vintage Santas and after rearranging the placement of each tree (only 40 or so times!), I felt pretty satisfied with the display.
All but one of these trees is handmade. From left-to-right, the materials used for each tree were: feathers, pearls, buttons, paper fringe, yarn and silk flowers.
