O Christmas Tree
I cannot wipe the dumb grin off my face – this time of year just makes me so happy! The only thing my boyfriend and I like to shop for on Black Friday is our Christmas tree, so out to Jersey we went last weekend to chop one down. If you live in the NY area and are looking for a little tree adventure, I suggest you head on out to Dixiedale Farms in Chatham, New Jersey. We went last year and had such a great experience, plus we learned that we could bring pets – so Riley and Dylan got to come along this year. Everyone out there is so darn nice – when the owner saw we had our dogs in tow upon arrival, we were immediately greeted with doggie treats. I had asked my boyfriend to take a photo of me with the dogs amongst the lush greenery and as he went to take the photo a lady came running (literally, running!) over insisting that she take one of all of us. And if that wasn’t kind enough, I have never seen so much motivation put forth in trying to get the attention of two non-responsive dogs. It was hilarious – she took about 20, while continually yelling their names and trying to get them to sit. As if the nice people and beautiful trees aren’t enough, there’s also fire pit, as well as some hot cider and cookies for shoppers to help themselves to. I just love it – a true gem hidden away from the dirty overpriced trees sold along the NYC streets.
We found a great tree and were a little too overwhelmed by it’s beauty to remember that we live in a small Brooklyn apartment. It wasn’t until we got home that we realized it didn’t fit in our living room…at all. But no big deal, just a simple redesign of the room and the removal of a piece or two of furniture and we were in business! Because it’s larger than our previous trees we actually didn’t have enough ornaments to fill in the tree, so I’ll have to take a finished photo tonight.
I’ll post some photos of our finished tree and our very festive apartment in the next few days. For now, here’s a little look I posted last year of some of our vintage décor.
