South Africa
I still do not feel capable of being able to put my recent visit to Africa into words. It was all very surreal and an experience I will never ever forget.
Although the experience I had is still beyond me, hopefully I’ll be able to write a bit more about the trip on here later. It’s taken me quite some time to go through all of the photos I took (over 2,000!), but here’s a few of my favorites for now. I’ll continually update this post and the pictures below, as I make progress sorting through them all. Click “More” to see all of the photos.
Our trip started in Durban at the amazing Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga. We woke up each morning and watched the sunrise over the Indian Ocean from our sea-facing room – it was absolutely gorgeous. Over our few days in Durban we walked the beach, relaxed at the pools, and took a tour of the city. It was a great way to unwind after the 26 hours of travel.
After Durban we spent the next two weeks on safari. We stayed at two great reserves, first Phinda and then Londolozi. The experience we had at Londolozi was absolutely unreal. It was magical. And again, I can’t get the words out just yet…but I’ll be back with more later, especially about Londolozi. Here are some of the photos from our time spent on safari.

August 29, 2013 at 3:35 pmoh my gosh, these are so very amazing! My favorites…all of them, but especially you by the pool edge, Chad in his hat, the 3 zebras and the one of the hotel balustrade, overlooking the ocean. Actually, I am just amazed by the patterns and textures of all of the animals too. And I forgot it was winter over there until I saw your coats!
